Project-based learning (PBL) focuses on synthesizing academic knowledge. Those who can synthesize see relationships in seemingly unrelated fields, see patterns beyond specific answers, and create something new by combining pieces others had not thought to pair. Those who can synthesize will be prepared for the future. It is no longer enough to know facts and theories; people must have the ability to apply them in diverse arenas over a lifetime. ESAA not only prepares students for middle school, but also for adulthood while keeping the child’s spirit and joy of learning alive and thriving.
